National Express Parts Commodity Specialist in Lisle, Illinois


National Express LLC (NELLC) is currently seeking a Parts Commodity, Supplier Relationship Specialist . The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who is comfortable working within a cross-functional team environment or individually, as well as collaborating with and advising stakeholders at all levels. Key responsibilities of this position include the ownership and health of overall key school, transit and shuttle vehicle parts category supplier relationships, leading the development of supplier sourcing strategies within the category, developing and tracking support initiatives and ensuring that the supplier meets the needs of National Express LLC.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading the overall business relationship between NELLC and its primary parts suppliers with specific focus of national parts supplier contract management, program compliance, critical business parts sourcing and alternative supply chain reviews

  • Serving as central point of contact for both internal and external parts supplier related issues

  • Conveying supplier expectations, establishing supplier performance criteria, conducting formal supplier reviews, and ensuring supplier compliance to contracts and other specified criteria

  • Leading the development, communication, and reinforcement of parts supplier strategies to provide for current and future needs of the business

  • Leveraging subject matter expertise and in-depth industry knowledge to provide NELLC with a competitive edge (e.g. price, quality, assured supply, etc.)

  • Utilizing a standardized strategic sourcing process to initiate parts spend strategic sourcing initiatives from start to finish to include market testing and issuance of RFPs and analyses of parts commodities and key spend categories

  • Building strong business partnerships with internal customers; maintaining rapport and credibility

  • Researching potential supply sources and establishing relationships with potential suppliers

  • Establishing contract purchase agreements as needed while improving current supplier agreements

  • Ensuring that the organization receives maximum value in terms of price, quality, service, and reliability from suppliers

  • Providing project status updates/presentations to executive leadership

  • Other duties as assigned


Position Requirements Include:

  • 4 or more years of strategic parts sourcing experience, supplier relationship management and delivered cost savings history within a large multi-site corporation

  • Background in automotive or fleet management is preferred

  • Industry/sector certification a plus, but not essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management/related field or equivalent experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Understanding of e-Sourcing tools

  • Oracle, Maximo systems experience a plus

  • Knowledgeable in other areas of supply chain management such as contract management and procurement operations, policy and compliance

  • Demonstrated experience leading large parts commodity spend projects and supplier relationships

  • Proven experience analyzing and interpreting total cost of ownership and supplier performance data to develop strategies to drive savings and mitigate risks

  • Skilled at conducting deep analysis of raw internal purchasing and external supplier data to formulate category strategies

  • Must have strong leadership, organizational, project management, process improvement, problem solving, and corrective action/resolution skills

  • Skilled at influencing decisions using qualitative and quantitative data while maintaining enduring partnerships with internal customers at all levels

  • Strong understanding of business priorities; ability to work effectively with changing business priorities

  • Excellent verbal, active listening, and written communication skills

  • Excellent presentation skills; comfortable presenting to executive leadership and internal stakeholders

  • Highly motivated and self-directed with a strong attention to detail

  • 10% travel
