We are currently seeking a Vice President, HR Operations to work from our corporate headquarters in Lisle, IL or your remote office.

The VP, HR Operations assumes the role of Senior HR business partner to the leadership team in developing and leading core human resources initiatives. The role’s key areas of accountability will include strategic direction and execution with a focus on driving top talent, employee engagement, employment practices and change management,

This role will operate in a dynamic environment with a rapidly changing workforce through a combination of progressive strategic thinking and tactical “roll-up-your-sleeves” contributions. The role will oversee activities based in the U.S. and Canada and will require extensive travel in the U.S., and Canada including attending at least on a monthly basis the Corporate Headquarters in Lisle, IL.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee Area HR Directors and provide day-to-day coaching, performance feedback, career counseling and development

  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership by provide advice and guidance with respect to HR industry best practices, company policies, and relevant legislation

  • Bring in-depth knowledge and best practices of HR strategies, policies, and procedures

  • Lead the planning and execution of organizational change initiatives to enhance business performance, increase capability and drive engagement within the organization; support the execution of broader change initiatives for Field Operations

  • Liaise with Field Recruitment to support the driver staffing processes with the HRDs and HRMs on an ongoing basis.

  • Develop, enhance and enforce human resources policies and procedures of the organization which will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation

  • Providing advice and guidance to Area HR Directors on various employee and labor relations policies, practices, processes, and documentation; anticipating the implications of employee/labor relations related decisions and actions, approving leaves, recommending compensation, and dealing with disciplinary issues

  • Developing appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the corporation (employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee issues, career development, etc.)

  • Plans and coordinates the delivery of annual HR programs related to performance management, talent planning, development and compensation

  • Oversees strategic talent management and performance management programs to proactively identify, plan and develop critical capabilities for the future; drives programs through Area HR Directors

  • Conducting human resources needs analyses, matching HR solutions to identified gaps, and increasing employee communication to ensure seamless execution of business agenda

  • Serve as advisor for all people related communication messages delivered to employees, at all levels; design communications that will help employees better understand our values, mission, and vision

  • Creating, implementing, and evaluating a Human Resources integration plan for mergers and acquisitions

  • Continually improving the programs, policies, practices, and processes associated with meeting the operational people issues of the organization

  • Continually assessing the competitiveness of all HR programs and policies against comparable companies and industries

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field; Master’s degree preferred; SPHR certification preferred

  • 10-12 years of HR leadership experience in a multi-location environment

  • Functional knowledge of full cycle non-exempt and exempt recruitment process

  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities; sound judgment

  • Ability to successfully manage a large and complex recruiting organization

  • High learning agility and demonstrated ability to think out of the box and find innovative solutions to traditional problems by doing more than filling jobs

  • Proven organization skills; ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands

  • Exceptional research skills and resourcefulness

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to manage a large and variable work load, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned work

  • Ability to work independently with exceptional organizational skills and a high attention to detail

  • Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize assignments in a fast paced, dynamic environment

  • Experience working within the broader HR function, such as in a generalist or HR business partner role strongly preferred.
